Jesse Lingard has become the first Manchester United player, to break their social media silence, since the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
The England midfielder, who scored United’s final goal under Mourinho in the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, posted on his Instagram Story on Wednesday.
Lingard wrote: “Thank you for the wisdom,” along with a picture of Mourinho giving him instructions from the touchline.
No United player posted anything on social media relating to the sacking on Tuesday, when the squad all headed to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to hand out Christmas presents to local children.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was confirmed as United’s new interim manager on Wednesday, signing a deal until the end of the season.
