UGHELLI – There was pandemonium Sunday at the Delta State capital, Asaba, following a mysterious fire that gutted a new generation church, Charismatic Renewal Ministries Incorporated.
DAILY INDEPENDENT gathered that scores of worshipers were confirmed to have sustained minor burns from the inferno whose cause remained unknown.
A member of the church who did not want her name in print told DAILY INDEPENDENT that parts of the church and some vital documents were gutted by the fire.
She said, “I am a member of Charismatic Renewal Ministries which is popularly known as Transformation Faith Centre located at No. 35 Biosa Amantu, off Jesus Saves Road, Oshimili South Local Government Area of the state.
“The mysterious fire started from one of the rooms in the church complex where a phone was allegedly plugged and kept on top of a mattress. But I don’t know if it was the plugged phone that cut fire in the process or it was the devil’s handiwork.”
“Men of the state fire service were on ground to save the situation after a section of the church was already burnt by the inferno.”
