Bill de Blasio buys bagels for city hall reporters amid latest food scandal

Here’s one order he didn’t mess up!

Mayor Bill de Blasio bought City Hall’s hardworking correspondents lightly toasted whole wheat bagels for breakfast Thursday morning, offering a wink-and-nod response to his botched bagel-order tweet that got New York talking a day earlier.

“Here’s a toast to budget day,” the Mayor’s press secretary, Freddi Goldenstein wrote on Hizzoner’s behalf. “Enjoy! Bill”

The self-effacing response came just hours after de Blasio posted his bagel order on Twitter — “Whole wheat. Toasted. Extra cream cheese” — and the Internet roasted him for the toasting faux pas.

City Hall quickly deleted the tweet and reposted it sans ‘toasted’, but it was too late.

Compounding his problems, Hizzoner said he picked up the order from his favorite bagel shop in his old ‘hood, “Bagel Hole in Park Slope” — which told The Post it refuses to toast its always-fresh bagels, and doesn’t even have a toaster.

“We bake them here and they’re already hot,” Bagel Hole’s assistant manager Raul Perez told The Post.

“It’s the old-fashioned way,” he said.

Perez told the paper that de Blasio picked up the whole wheat and cream cheese combo the last time he visited the store a couple of weeks ago.

And, he added, Hizzoner thankfully didn’t ask for them toasted.
