Access Bank announced to return customers stamp duty charges for February to April.

The bank made this known in a statement on Sunday that it’s taking the burden of the two months stamp duty charge off customers.

Access bank also said deductions made between Saturday and Sunday would be reversed to customers, adding that it was not oblivious of the fact that this period is a tough one for customers.

We have have heard our customers’ feedback that this charge is unwelcome, especially at this time against a challenging economic drop,” the bank said in the statement.

We have considered your feedback and have decided to pay the stamp duty on our customers’ behalf for the affected period only,” it added.

This is coming against the backdrop of outrage by the bank’s customers on social media on Saturday and Sunday over what some of them described as outrageous and unnecessary deductions of stamp duty charges. While the bank was trending as: “#AccessBankScam,” online.
