’90 Day Fiancé’: Syngin Comes Home Drunk From a Job Interview

90 Day Fiancé stars Syngin Colchester and Tania Maduro are newlyweds—married for just five months—on the fifth season of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After. But they’re wrestling with money issues and physical injuries that have made their first few months of marriage anything but wedded bliss.

A harrowing car accident just months after Syngin and Tania’s wedding left Tania seriously injured and unable to continue working as a bartender. Syngin, who hails from South Africa, was luckily able to expedite his work visa. Still, he struggled to find work right away. What’s more, Tania accused her husband of drinking too heavily nearly every day, which she said raised “red flags” for her.

On a recent episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, Syngin’s job interview at a local Connecticut bar didn’t go well. When he arrived home and greeted Tania, he appeared to be seriously drunk.

Syngin seemed very drunk after his ill-fated job interview

Tania’s appointment with an orthopedic surgeon didn’t exactly go well. In fact, she found out that she needed more physical therapy than she originally thought. What’s more, the surgeon broke the news that she might not be able to go back to bartending for months, if at all.

Tania waited for Syngin to come home from his equally disappointing job interview. But when he arrived, she wrinkled her nose at the smell of his breath. “You smell a little bit like beer,” the 90 Day Fiancé star complained. “How many drinks did you have, baby?”

Syngin burped and began to slur his words as he tried to answer. “Yeah, so…I kind of felt super bummed after the interview, because it was like a ‘maybe, maybe not’ kind of vibe,” he admitted. “Whenever it comes to me about feeling comfort, I don’t want that to be such an alone feeling.”

The 90 Day Fiancé star sheepishly admitted that he had a drink or two (or more). “So I had a couple drinks. I had like, two beers and a shot at the bar,” he told his skeptical wife.

Tania didn’t say much, but it was clear that she was annoyed at Syngin’s drunken state. “When Syngin comes home and tells me that he didn’t get the job, I can tell that he’s f***ing drunk,” she told TLC producers.

Tania tried to address her doctor’s appointment with her husband

Despite her husband’s less-than-alert state, Tania tried to give Syngin an account of what had happened at the doctor.

“My bones are bruised on my knee, so I have to do more physical therapy on top of what I was already doing with my foot,” she began.

Syngin cut in, though, to ask about Tania’s work situation. “What did he say about work?” he snapped, a bit irritated. “Like, you’re not f***ing working anytime soon. Sounds to me.”

“No, probably about three months,” Tania agreed, clearly disappointed herself.

Her husband was less than supportive, replying bluntly, “So it’s three months at least, you ain’t doing s***.”

The ’90 Day Fiancé’ stars argued about Tania’s injury and Syngin’s drinking

Syngin told 90 Day Fiancé producers that he had good reason to be worried. Tania’s bartending gigs had gone a long way as far as keeping them afloat financially. If she wasn’t able to work, that could pose major problems for them.

“If Tania can’t bartend anymore, that’s a big one,” Syngin told producers. “So me, right now, I don’t feel it’s that easy. A lot of s*** has went down since I’ve been in the States.”

Tania’s husband asked to know what else her doctor had told her at the appointment. “Arthritis might show up in a few years,” the 90 Day Fiancé star replied.

Syngin retorted, “What the f***? He told me you only get arthritis when you’re 50.” The couple bickered back and forth about the doctor’s recommendations, until Tania finally asked Syngin to stop talking (and breathing into her face, to boot).

Tania explained that it wasn’t the drinking itself that really worried her; it was Syngin’s reaction to her physical and emotional pain.

“I’m not concerned that Syngin is going to drink every single moment,” the 90 Day Fiancé star said. “It’s more the fact that I couldn’t be vulnerable with Syngin. So my patience is starting to run thin, because I don’t feel acknowledged all the time, and it really hurts and it sucks.”
