All 45 Seasons of ‘Saturday Night Live’ Will Stream on Peacock, Starting Next Month

Get ready to travel back into the comedy archives, because Saturday Night Live, one of the longest-running series in the genre, is about to be available to stream in its entirety. Variety reports that every single season of SNL (all 45 of them) will be heading to streaming on Peacock starting Oct. 1.

While we were promised every episode of SNL with the Peacock launch back in July, only a handful of recent seasons and a few “Best Of” collections were available to stream this summer. Today’s announcement marks one of the few times the comedy series has been released in its full glory. Before, we could stream SNL on Hulu, which offered the first five seasons of the show, then jumped a few years to offer Seasons 30-40.

SNL was previously available to stream in full on both Netflix and Hulu, but the full library later left both platforms. The show has had multiple homes since, including a brief stint on Yahoo, an official SNL app, and later, NBC’s comedy streaming platform, Seeso, which shut down for good in 2017. Once the full SNL library land on Peacock, we don’t know if the episodes will be available in full, including their musical segments or short films, like the Lonely Island’s digital shorts that reached viral viewing status in the early 2010s.

The Peacock news comes just as SNL is heading into Season 46, which will debut on NBC Oct. 9. Former cast member Chris Rock was announced as the host of the season premiere, with rapper Megan Thee Stallion joining him as the episode’s musical guest. The show is returning to film in studio for the upcoming season, bringing the full cast of Season 45 — plus three new additions — back to perform live after the show filmed from cast members’ homes this past spring due to the coronavirus pandemic.
