A beautiful Nigerian model, Agbani Darego, was named Miss World in 2001.
She won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 2001, which was marred by controversies before representing Nigeria at the global event.
The Lagos-born lady was a contestant at Miss Universe, and she even became the first Nigerian to place among the top 10 semi-finalists, finishing seventh overall.
Agbani Darego was also the only top ten contestants to wear a modest maillot as opposed to a revealing bikini during the swimsuit competition.
She was awarded an honorary chieftaincy by the Council of Chiefs of Lagos after she earned a national honour of MFR.
The beautiful model went ahead to launch a style and fashion reality show, Stylogenic on Nigerian tv, and due to her busy schedule, she had to quit schooling at the University of Port Harcourt and moved to the USA, New York where she was signed to Next Model Management, Ford Models, and Trump Models.
Agbani Darego was enrolled at New York University to study Psychology, and she graduated in May 2012, and finally got married to her longtime fiancee, son of billionaire General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, Ishaya Danjuma in a ceremony held in Marrakesh, Morocco.
