Love Island has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, ITV has confirmed.
The channel’s Director of Television Kevin Lygo announced that it would not be possible to produce the show “in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved” as the coronavirus crisis continues.
“We have tried every which way to make Love Island this summer but logistically it’s just not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved and that for us is the priority,” Lygo said in a statement.
“We are very sorry for fans of the show but making it safely is our prime concern and Love Island will be back stronger than ever in 2023.” He added.
The dating series was scheduled to kick off at the start of June and lasts for six to eight weeks.
