The Police Command of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Tuesday restored calm at the Kabusa axis following an aggressive demonstration by inhabitants.
ASP Mariam Yusuf, Public Relations Officer, in a statement said a mob tried to invade the divisional formation in the area.
The residents became violent over a suspect rescued from an angry mob for knocking down two passengers on Monday.
The suspect, beaten to a pulp, was rushed to the hospital for treatment where doctors certified him dead.
The spokesperson said Kabusa locals attempted to overrun the Divisional Headquarters but were resisted by the operatives.
In the bid to restore calm, one of them sustained serious injuries and is receiving medical attention.
Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma has sympathized with the families of the victims and ordered an investigation.
The command implored residents to remain law-abiding and reaffirmed commitment to the protection of lives and property.
