At least, three people have been abducted by some gunmen who stormed Ijebu-Ode/Ibadan Road in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Newzandar News gathered that the victims were kidnapped Tuesday morning.
Our correspondent reports that some passengers in a Sienna car were on their way to a quarry site along the Ijebu-Ode/Ibadan Road when the gunmen blocked their vehicle.
It was later gathered that the abducted workers have regained their freedom.
The quarry workers regained their freedom through the efforts of the state police command, local hunters and vigilantes.
It was gathered that the security agents stormed their hideouts and rescued the victims.
Public Relations Officer of the State Police command, Adewale Osifeso confirmed the abduction.
Osifeso in a short message sent to Newzandar News on Wednesday, however, said that the victims have been rescued.
He added that the concerted effort of the police, local hunters and vigilantes led to the rescue of the victims.
He spoke further by saying that efforts have been intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects.
“Today 29/06/2023 at about 1100hrs, hoodlums numbering about ten (10) blocked Kulum Quarry Rd off Ibadan-Ijebu ode Road.
“During the process, three people were abducted from a Sienna Bus with Reg No: LUY 835KV.
“The process was, however, thwarted by the swift intervention of Police Operatives from the Command in concerted efforts with vigilantes and local hunters who engaged the abductors and were able to rescue all three victims unhurt.
