Garba Nadama, former Governor of Sokoto State has died at the age of 82.
His grandson, Imran Ahmed-Rufai confirmed the passing of the elder statesman, and confirmed he died on Monday night after a protracted illness.
The deceased was the second civilian governor of Sokoto State in the short-lived Second Republic, holding office from January 1982 to November 1983
The late Nadama was elected deputy governor of Sokoto State in 1979 and became governor in November 1981. This followed the death of the then governor, Shehu Kangiwa who died in a polo accident.
