This Cannot Happen! – Professor Andrea Charron React To Death Sentence Of 22-year Old Boy Who Insulted Prophet Mohammed

Nigerians are reacting to the news that a Kano Upper Shari’a Court has

sentence a 22-year-old singer to death by hanging for blaspheming against Prophet Muhammad.

Recall that in March of this year, youths in Kano state reportedly stormed

the Kano Hisbah office and demanded that action be taken

against Yahaya Sharif-Aminu for a song he composed, containing alleged derogatory comments attributed to the Prophet Muhammad.

According to reports, the youths warned that they will take laws into their hands if action is not taken.

Prior to the protest, on Friday, February 28 the youths stormed

the family house of the singer located at Sharifai quarters in Kano Municipal

Local Government Area, prompting them

to flee their home. The house was burnt down by irate youths.

A Sharia court has now sentenced Yahaya to death by

hanging for the song. The presiding judge

Khadi Aliyu Kani gave the guilty verdict on Monday, August 10, 2022.

The director, centre for Defence and Security Studies,

Andrea Charron took to Twitter to react to the development.
