5 Days After He Was Declared Missing, Remains Of Varsity Student Discovered At Sand Excavation Site In Kano

Ahmad Abubakar Idris, a 300 level student of the Kano University has been discovered dead five days after he was declared missing.

According to reports, Ahmad, a 22 year old student of the Department of Physics was no where to be found last Saturday, May 1, 2021 when he left campus with his two friends to buy a mobile phone in a market in Kano (Farm Centre).

The remains of Ahmad was found at a sand excavation site in Mariri at the outskirts of Kano. This comes after police arrested one of the colleagues who went with him to the market before he went missing.

Speaking to Newzandar News, Ahmad’s father, Abubakar Idris believes the colleagues of his son murdered him because of the money he had on him.

According to Mr. Idris, he had sent money to Ahmad to buy a mobile phone for his brother. Idris explained that on Saturday, he received a call that his son couldn’t be reached so he immediately moved from Abuja to Kano on Thursday after making a complaint at the police station.

Confirming the tragic incident, the spokesperson of the State Police Command,  Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said that two suspects have been nabbed.

Haruna said the Police Commissioner of the State, CP Sama’ila Dikko has asked the case to be sent to the Criminal Investigation Department, Bompai for further investigation.
