Prof. Babagana Zulum, Governor of Borno State, has appealed to the residents of the state to exhibit their best behaviour in anticipation of the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday.
Zulum addressed his people on Wednesday as he mad it known that the president would inaugurate the first phase of 10,000 houses he approved and for the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and refugees when he arrives in the state.
He said: “Not long ago, President Buhari gave approval for the NNPC to establish a power plant for us. This aims to address our electricity problems in Maiduguri and environs.
“President Buhari also approved the take off of a Federal Polytechnic in Monguno. The President is also likely to approve a Federal College of Education for Borno,”
“Borno is known for the culture of dignity, respect and honoring guests. I urge us to demonstrate Borno’s creed of hospitality”,
You could recall the governor recently made a statement that insurgents give as low as 5,000 and 10,000 Naira to recruit spies and smugglers of weapons.
He said: “From records, we have experienced instances when insurgents offered as low as between 5,000 and 10,000 Naira to recruit some spies and smugglers of weapons.
We needed to ensure that our good citizens had the support they needed, and they aare not exposed to potential attractions for the incentives of insurgents.
There was the risk that insurgents could, after making IDPs socially and economically vulnerable, also explore that vulnerability by offering food and cash incentives to recruit fighters who could even serve as their spies in communities.”
