Eleda Of Eda Ile, Oba Benjamin Abducted By Gunmen

In the Ekiti East Council area of Ekiti State, gunmen suspected of being kidnappers captured Oba Benjamin Oso, the Eleda of Eda Ile.

On Friday evening, June 25, the traditional ruler was kidnapped from his farm in the presence of his wife, according to reports.

His wife would have been taken, according to a source in Eda Ile, but the monarch pleaded with the gunmen to leave her alone.

“The Oba and the wife went to farm and were accosted by these gunmen. The two would have been kidnapped, but the monarch begged the bandits to free his wife, which they agreed with.” the source said.

Brig Joe Komolafe, Commander of the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps, confirmed the kidnapping, saying that all security forces in Ekiti, including police, soldiers, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and vigilance groups, are currently combing the forests for the monarch.

The current incidence occurred just two months after the Obaadu of Ilemeso, Oba David Oyewumi, was kidnapped from his palace in Oye Local Government Area, Ekiti State.

In other news, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, an Islamic cleric, has stated that he was never invited or arrested by State Security Service (SSS) operatives and that the government is aware of his meetings with criminals in the jungles.

The SSS invited Gumi after he claimed that security agents colluded with bandits.

Gumi, however, disputed those claims following Jumaat prayer at Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna State.

“Nobody invited me for questioning or any arrest, I can say that categorically,” Mr Gumi told Channels TV.

“Since I ventured into the forest, I went there with full security, the police, with the knowledge of the DSS, traditional rulers, the Fulani leaders, I never went alone.”
