Kofi Kinaata Shares His Secret To Writing Award-Winning Songs

Award-winning songwriter and musician, Martin King Arthur, popularly known as Kofi Kinaata has revealed his secret to writing his songs.

Kofi Kinaata has made history in the music industry as he has emerged the winner for songwriter of the year in the yearly Vodafone Ghana Music Award four times in a roll. Many have attributed his good and witty musical lyrics to his association with legends like Castro Underfire and Samini.

In a report on myjoyonline, Kofi Kinaata said that his sharpened songwriting skills come from study the interest of the public. He disclosed that he studied the trend and realize what the people want. He also emphasized that promoting songs in Ghana is very tough so he does songs that wouldn’t be hard to promote.

Promotion in Ghana is very tough, a lot is involved and so sometimes when I’m writing a song I make sure I do stuff that wouldn’t be hard to promote, one that DJ’s would like to play and one that people call FM stations to request, so as to make the work easier,” he said.

In a report by myjoyonline.com, he continued that “sometimes you have to follow a trend or say certain things before a song can hit. If you can’t do all that you have to make sure you do a good song”.
