Lagos State Government Refutes Claims Of Withholding N25m Contribution Made To Viral Amputee Hawker

Reports claiming that the state government has withheld the contributions made to the viral amputee hawker, Mary Daniel has been refuted.

The allegations were denied by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.

Recall that Newzandar News reported that the Lagos State Government was set to withheld the funds donated to her. The Nation alleged that the State Government seized Mary’s money after discovering that she “lied” about her condition.

In reaction, the state government was attacked by Nigerians who requested for the release of the contributions made to the amputee hawker on Wednesday night April 28.

Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy of Lagos State said in an interview with Staff FM on Thursday, April 29 that the government has no intentions of seizing the N25 million contributed to Mary Daniel.

According to him, the state government was to make sure that she was well protected and guided on how to judiciously make use of the money raised for her.

Gbenga concluded that Mary could establish her dream supermarket store in the state since the state’s efforts transformed her life.

Mary Daniel, a 27 year old single mother went viral after photos of her hawking briskly in the hot sun on the streets stunned netizens after surfacing on social media.

The amputee hawker celebrated her birthday in grande style on April 23 and she was styled by a celebrity stylist and upgraded to a top model in her birthday photos. SEE PHOTOS
