The former AS Roma manager was introduced in Naples on Thursday, and he expressed his admiration for the Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen.
Victor Osimhen has been praised by new Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti, who has emphasized the club’s record signing’s distinctive attributes.
After a disappointing debut season, fans and admirers of Napoli have turned their attention to Osimhen.
Following a multi-million euro transfer from Lille, the Nigerian attacker scored 10 goals in Serie A.
Even still, if he hadn’t been out of commission for three months, his output could have been significantly higher.
While Gennaro Gattuso aided Osimhen in his transition to Italy, Spalletti is regarded as the man with the Midas touch who can transform him into a world-class striker.
And the seasoned coach has expressed his admiration for the youngster’s strength, aggression, speed, eagerness to push opposition defenders, and ability to put the ball in the back of the net.
Spalletti highlighted his faith in Napoli’s ability to have a successful season with the Super Eagles star in the squad during his unveiling press conference.
“I don’t see why we shouldn’t do well with the current squad; Osimhen falls into this discourse,” Spalletti said as per Tutto Napoli.
“He attacks the depth; he has excellent qualities in the spaces.
“He knows how to score, helps the team, covers the spaces, and does not leave them to others.
“He is a strong one like Mertens, Petagna.”
Osimhen has been linked with a move away from Napoli, with Tottenham apparently considering him as a possible successor for Harry Kane if the Englishman leaves.
However, the 22-year-old is determined to stay in Italy, and Napoli are considering including a large buyout clause in his contract to deter potential suitors.
