Suspected Gunmen Kill Medical Doctor In Niger State

Precious Chinedu Emeka, a medical practitioner, was allegedly assassinated by gunmen suspected of being armed bandits in Salka village, Magama Local Government Area, Niger State.

It was said that five gunmen stormed his clinic while he was on duty at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, and carried him away to an unknown location.

Nigerian Tribune reported that one of the gunmen, who was wearing a mask over his face, entered the clinic and requested to see the doctor.

In an interview on Friday in Minna, a local source indicated that Dr. Precious, as he was affectionately known, was inside the complex that doubled as his clinic when the gunmen arrived and carried him away.

“When they took the doctor away we reported the incident to the police and the local vigilante group . The following day (Thursday afternoon) the vigilante group later called us that they have seen a corpse inside the bush and we were able to identify that of our oga,” said the source who didn’t want his identity disclosed.

Chief Emmanuel Ezeugo, President of the Ohanaeze Ndi-igbo, Niger State, who confirmed Dr. Chinedu’s assassination, characterized it as “extremely terrible.”

Ezeugo regretted the assassination of a bright young man in Niger State and urged security forces to apprehend and convict the perpetrators as soon as possible.
