The Golkofa community has been thrown into a state of mourning after bandits stormed the community and killed a local community official.
On Saturday night, May 8, bandits stormed the house of the local community official, killed him, his wife and the wife of his son. The incident happened at Golkofa in Jema Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Samuel Aruwan, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, in a statement made available to newsmen said on Sunday May 9, that the assailants stormed the home of Sgt. Christopher Madaki (Rtd), a scribe to a Ward Head at Golkofa, shot him, his wife and his son’s wife dead.
Mr Aruwan said;
“The three were later confirmed dead, while his son, Clement Musa Madaki survived with injuries inflicted on him by the assailants,”
Mary Christopher Madaki and Alice Musa were the identities of the scribe’s wife and his son’s wife.
Reacting to the incident, Kaduna Governor, Nasir E-Rufai expressed sadness over the tragic incident, he described it as inhuman and evil.
He called on the appropriate security agencies to speed up investigation into the matter while praying for the departed souls.
In other news, the 27 students who were kidnapped from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation school were freed and made to reunite with their families after being in captivity for 56 days.
It was an emotional moment for both parents and children as tears flowed effortlessly. Heavily armed policemen guarded the entire premises of the college which saw the presence of the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan and the State Commissioner of Police, Umar Muri.
One of the freed students narrated their plight in the hands of their kidnappers. Zakariya Magaji said it was a very terrible experience and wouldn’t even wish such experience for his enemies. He said;
“The bandits need prayers. All that we have to do is to pray for them for God to touch their hearts. As for me, I have forgiven them for whatever we went through in their hands. The experience was hell.”
