It’s motivation to achieve bigger steps–Abdul Fatawu on U20 AFCON glory

2021 U20 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] Golden Ball Winner, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, says winning the title for Ghana is a big motivation for the Black Satellites players to work hard and achieve bigger steps in their careers.

Ghana beat Uganda 2-0 in the final on Saturday night at the Olympic Stadium in Mauritania to lift its fourth U20 AFCON title.

The 16-year-old Steadfast FC youngster has been instrumental in the process and scored two stunners in the competition combined with dazzling performances.

He mentions it’s a privilege to be adjudged the best player of the tournament, but is most excited for the delivery of the trophy to Ghanaians on the country’s 64th Independence Day.

“I feel delighted and privileged to win this award, but more so happy that as a team we won the trophy for the Ghanaian people,” he told

“This is a motivation for us to keep working and hopefully we can take new and bigger steps in our careers.”

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has also been named in the tournament’s best eleven to play at the right side of a three-man attack.
