Girl, 9, dies after being pulled from Staten Island reservoir

A young girl died after being pulled from the Silver Lake reservoir on Staten Island on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The 9-year-old girl, wearing a pink bathing suit, made her way into the fenced-in body of water, where swimming is banned, and was seen going into the water around 2 p.m., according to police and sources.

The FDNY scuba unit pulled the girl out and she was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center, where she died at 2:45 p.m., according to authorities.
