Video shows suspected drunk driver speeding on Brooklyn Heights Promenade

A drunk driver with a water bottle filled with alcohol took a joyride up and down the Brooklyn Heights Promenade — as shocked pedestrians looked on, according to cops.

Police say got the call about a reckless driver speeding on the car-free walkway just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

A video posted to Reddit shows the sedan almost hitting a woman’s small pooch.

A 62-year-old man tried to snap a picture of Toyota Corolla but the 33-year-old driver, Eric James, smacked the phone from his hand, police said.

When cops arrived and stopped the car, they noticed James was slurring his speech and appeared drunk, according to the NYPD.

They also spotted a a water bottle inside the car that reeked of alcohol, cops said.

James was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, DWI and driving in a motor vehicle, cops said.

He appeared in court on Friday and was let go with a court date on Jan. 11, 2021, according to court records.

James could not be reached for comment.
